Residential Lighting and Controls (3 Part Series)

These introductory and intermediate classes for residential designers, electrical contractors and others in the building industry cover a range of considerations for specifying and designing the lighting and lighting controls, including how to assess product features and work with lighting professionals. The first session in the series covers how to design residential lighting so it is energy efficient, beautiful and complies with codes using best practices. In the second session, the instructor will discuss what to consider in choosing and documenting lighting controls so they save energy and are laid out to manage lighting effectively. Finally in the third session, learn how to install the lighting controls so the construction and start-up commissioning processes are coordinated and the controls operate lights as intended.

Lighting Controls Manufacturers' Demos
This on-demand class seeks to highlight a variety of lighting controls for commercial spaces with an in-depth look at features. After a brief introduction to lighting controls scope and function, you can select  your choice of module with detailed look at a specific lighting controls product. Then you will see lighting controls product components, how they function, and how they are connected in an installation so you can lay them out for your application. In each, you will see how to use software or an app to commission the products to function as prescribed.

Conversation on 2022 CA Energy Code Lighting Updates (Previously Recorded)
This class presents the most impactful changes in the 2022 version of California’s Energy Code for lighting. Charles Knuffke (Wattstopper Legrand) and Gina Rodda (Gabel Energy for Energy Code Ace), both admitted code geeks, point out the specific updates and code changes, describe some context, and discuss how the changes affect our design processes in the new code cycle that began January 1st, 2023. They will explain what to think about for code-compliant lighting and what products to consider.
